Bruno Mars Wrote The Recording Academy To Ask If He And Anderson Paak Can Perform At The Grammys

Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak recently dropped their new song "Leave The Door Open" which is from their collab album "Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak & Silk Sonic."

With the Grammys coming up and limited opportunity to promote by doing live performances, Bruno Mars did what many in his position would not do...he wrote the Recording Academy. Bruno asked if he

and Anderson Paak could perform on the upcoming Grammys.

In his letter, Bruno wrote, "Dear Grammys, If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out-of-work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it. We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now. We have a lot riding on this record (and the Pelicans game next week, but that's another story.). We haven't been able to perform for a while, and we just want to sing. We'll send in an audition tape and take as many COVID tests as we need to..."

When I first saw that Bruno Mars had written to the Recording Academy and has his fans tweeting them, I rolled my eyes. But then I thought about it; here is a Grammy winner who is not too cool to publicly ask for what he wants in order to be successful. Some artists allow their egos to stop them from doing what they need to do to succeed and then end up bitter. Bruno is probably doing this really to make sure Anderson Paak gets the success his talent deserves. So, now I have stopped rolling my eyes, and I hope they are given a performance spot.
