Cardi B Hops On Latto's Summer Anthem 'Put It On Da Floor'

Latto and Cardi B Announce Put It On Da Floor Remix.

In 2020, Cardi B featured Latto as one of her "whores in the house" in the infamous WAP music video; fast forward three years, a Mariah Carey feature, and 2 Grammy nominations later, and Latto has emerged with her own summer anthem, "Put It On Da Floor," which is heating up the streets. So, it's no surprise that Cardi B, lacking new music and facing competition from a rising redhead from the Bronx, Ice Spice, has decided to join forces with Latto and jump on the remix of this track.

If you missed it, Latto announced on social media that she will release a remix of her hit single "Put It On Da Floor" featuring Cardi B this Friday. Even though I am not excited about this collaboration, I see it as a

win-win for both artists. Cardi B is aiming for another breakout moment like she had on Glorilla's "Tomorrow 2." While Latto needs better support from her label, RCA. Despite its popularity in clubs and on the streets, RCA has not been pushing "Put It On Da Floor" as much as it should be. Maybe they can pick up some tips from Atlantic.

MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL

Let me emphasize that this collaboration is mutually beneficial. I understand that the concept of something being "mutually beneficial" might be foreign in STAN culture, where there's a tendency to create narratives about artists using Cardi B. However, it's important to acknowledge that both Cardi B and Latto stand to benefit from this remix. It is not a one-way street. There is a reason why the New York girls are not releasing their own music and are instead opting to hop on remixes like they are lily pads. They DO NOT have the music, but they have the label push, media support, and some extra stuff needed to chart a song. So, even though it is getting repetitive putting either New York "Queen" on your remix, I see why.

Anyways, Latto is killing it this year. People can hate, but all Latto remixes and songs she has dropped this year have been fire. She and her music are not the problem. I'm watching you, RCA.
