Did Drake's "Honestly, Nevermind" flop?
The numbers are in, and Drake's "Honestly, Nevermind's" sold 210K (11K pure) in the first week. While those numbers are great for most artists, they fall short of Drake's standards which would have this album projected to sell between 399K - 785K. These numbers also fall short of Kendrick's "Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers" first week numbers of 295K.
Oh, please do not whine about this not being an "album," or this was a surprise drop. Drake is one, if not
the biggest, artist in the world. He does not need a traditional rollout to get people to check out his music, especially with how Hip Hop media rides his dick. There is a lotta wolf'n going on before these albums drop, leading to a lotta moonwalking after they drop.
This brings me to the goofy-ass behavior of industry people who tried shaming and talking down to listeners who did not fck with this album. It was shameful and pathetic to hear/read the excuse that we don't have the ear or know how to listen to other genres of music because we did not fck with this album?
Let's not act like Drake is not known for nibbling off other genres or that "Honestly, Nevermind" was not the same old Drake over dance beats. I mean, the windmilling for this album only proved how much the industry is scared of Drake failing and how far they will go to save him from himself.
Also, this idea that one cannot critique this project unless you are in the middle of a club, from a bunch of people who constantly critique female rap music from their office, bed, while in traffic, or eating, was one of the funniest takes I read.
Anyways, Drake still will debut at #1 with his lowest-selling album of his career.
SO, LET ME KNOW IF YOU CONSIDER THIS A FLOP FOR DRAKE?

its not a flop because it’s a dance album. If any “rappers“ I like decide to make a pop or dance album I’m not streaming it all lol 😮💨
