DOJA CAT IS rAcIsT ...DOJA CAT hAtEs hErSeLf...DOJA CAT IS INTO rAcE pLaY...
Last night, Doja Cat got on Instagram Live to address the rumors that started spreading about her after "Say So" went No. 1 on the Hot 100. Her tone was much more in line with how I expected her to respond the first time. She addressed rumors bullet point by bullet point. The videos are broken down below.
SELF-HATE/HAIR: "IF I FEEL THAT IT'S DIFFICULT TO TAKE CARE OF MY HAIR I'M GOING TO STATE IT"
I want to apologize to Doja Cat because I was one of those who labeled her as someone who self hates. That is one of the reasons you did not see me join in on the hate train. If that is not who she is, then I will not force that label on to her.
Now about the hair, this was a mountain made out of a molehill. I kinda wish Doja would have ignored this point because most BLACK WOMEN COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR HAIR! That does not mean we hate being
Black. I saw her video, and I thought thank Gawwwd y'all couldn't see me on Saturday when I chopped off my hair out of frustration. I'M TIRED OF DETANGLING!!! If you don't mind having split-ends and plan on wearing a wig 24/7, then your life is pretty easy. But, if you want to have HEALTHY BLACK HAIR, that takes a lot of effort. So, yes, some days we will talk sh*t about our hair, but that does not mean we hate our hair or being Black. I am using "we" because I relate to Doja. I did not do another "Big Chop" because I felt like having shorter hair for the Summer. It was out of FRUSTRATION.
DINDU NUFFIN/SANDRA BLAND: "THE WORST SONG IN THE ENTIRE WORLD"
Doja Cat took responsibility for using an offensive term and apologized to anyone she offended. I don't get why people find it so odd she would take an "offensive term" used against her and try to flip it. Isn't that what we did with the"N-word?"
I appreciate Doja Cat clearing up the Sandra Bland rumors. I don't know who started that BS, but it was obviously an attempt to inflame Black women to attack her. This lust for "catfights" by certain groups is sick.
This was one of those rumors that never had any merit, except for the term being used by racists on Tinychat. We should not give "Dindu Nuffin" power by being faux offended. Most of us never heard the term before this drama. I am not losing any sleep over a bunch of "Dindu Nuffins" in TinyChat.
STRIPPING FOR WHITE SUPREMACISTS: "ABSOLUTELY 100% FCK'N INCORRECT"
Unless someone has proof that she hangs in racist chatrooms vs a public chatroom where racists can come and go, this is another dud. The clips posted were very short and never gave me the full context of what was going on. People were adding their own "captions" to the videos trying to instigate sh*t. In one of the videos posted I asked about the brotha who was sitting in that room with Doja. Was he another Black racist??? Her explanation makes sense to me.
RACE PLAY: "I'M KINKY AS FCK, VERY KINKY BUT TO THAT EXTENT, NO"
There is no way to really debunk this unless a video is shown or an ex-boyfriend pops up. I guess the better question is how often does she use the hard "er" on the "N-word?"
DATING WHITE MEN: "GOOD LUCK, MUTHAFCKA"
She said what she said!
BEYONCE: "ANY FCK'N TIME ANYONE EVER CAME FOR BEYONCE I WAS THERE"
This Beyonce rumor was another Sandra Bland ploy. Women did not move on the Sandra Bland story, so someone decided to throw Beyonce's name in the mix. People really reached with that video.
BOOBS: "I DON'T EVEN WANT TO ADDRESS IT"
I felt like this wasn't even needed to address. We all know she was joking and for those truly upset...fck'em.
LAW #5 - "SO MUCH DEPENDS ON REPUTATION GUARD IT WITH YOUR LIFE
Overall, I feel like she did a good job of addressing the main issues. What I respect is that she did not hide behind that post from the other day. She played to her strengths which is her running her mouth on camera. In fact, I think that is part of the reason she did this. She wanted to get back on camera so bad and knew she had to address this mess first.
These girls are being attacked constantly and the ones who want to have a long career need to stand up for themselves. Doja Cat was apologetic where she needed to be and defiant where she needed to be. She still isn't my personality type, but I have gained a newfound respect for her.
Also, I don't think this changes that Doja may have problematic behavior, but the issue is that being a self-hating, race play, racists may not be part of that problematic behavior. At this point it's a let your actions speak louder than your words moment.
Comment, Like, Share...Thanks!
@Bri, I think it's Black men that can't stand to have someone not drool over them. I see most of the BS coming from men.
I believe people have been looking for a reason not to like her. Her saying the N word with the hard r just gave them an excuse to state how they really felt. I feel like people want Doja to hate the fact that she's half white, and the fact that she doesn't makes them feel like she hates being half black. I could be wrong, but that's my opinion on it.
I knew people were going to continue with the false narratives because most people just can't admit they were wrong. After Doja's explanation what are we left with:
She did a song using a term racist use. The important stuff like making a song disrespecting Sandra Bland was a LIE! What part of that don't people get???? She wasn't disrespecting Beyonce. All the things that people leaped out the window with were never true, but people hate admitting they were fooled by Twitter trolls.
I understand her personality leaves a lot to be desired but you can't try ruining someone's career for fun. These people just want to play with the female rapper's careers like they are board games.
