Four Court Cases That Will Dominate Hip Hop Headlines And Have Fans Playing Lawyers In 2022

HIP HOP COURT

In 2022, there are 4 cases to watch in Hip Hop. Cardi B vs Tasha K and Assault Charges involving bartenders, Nicki MInaj and Kennth Petty being sued by his rape victim Jennifer Hough, Tory Lanez is gong to trial for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, and Kaalan Walker is charted with serial rape case of over 30 women in Los Angeles.

4 COURT CASES TO WATCH IN 2022

While many of us will be focusing on not failing their New Year's resolutions the first week of 2022, some of y'all fave artists will be praying that Lady Justice gets starstruck and tilts justice in their favor; even if they are truly guilty. Below are four court cases that will dominate the headlines in Hip Hop and have everyone playing lawyers in this new year: Jennifer Hough vs. Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty, Kaalan Walker, Cardi B vs. Tasha K, etc., and Tory Lanez.

Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty Respond To Jennifer Hough Lawsuit. Are They Lying?

On August 13, 2021, Jennifer Hough filed a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty, alleging witness intimidation, harassment, emotional distress, etc. So it's obvious why this case will be closely watched in 2022. While we are used to seeing the male rappers fck up the brand by getting caught

up in legal situations, here you have not only a female rapper but a rap legend. A rap legend who knowingly married a convicted sex offender and is now being sued by his rape victim because allegedly Nicki Minaj tried intimidating her into recanting her story.

I once thought the blackballing of Nicki Minaj was the most compelling story in Hip Hop, but seeing how this has all played out, Nicki has trumped herself. This whole situation screams documentary. But, not this watered-down nonsense Nicki plans to peddle to her Barbras. I am talking about some investigative journalist shit that will be unauthorized by Nicki and end up on Netflix, Amazon, or HBO Max. I thought Lil Kim was the Queen of self-sabotage, but Nicki Minaj continues to show her, "anything you can do, I can do better."

CASE STATUS: Waiting on judge ruling on default judgment and if Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty were properly served.

Kaalan KR Walker Is Accused Of Raping Over 30 Women. Trial Starts In January.

Alleged serial rapist, Kaalan "KR" Walker, pleaded not guilty to six counts of forcible rape, two counts of unlawful intercourse with a minor, and other felonies related to attacks involving 11 different women. On December 6, 2021, the Los Angeles DA told the courts that over 30 victims had come forwards with allegations against Walker. KR, best known for his role in Super Fly, reportedly lured aspiring models/actresses to fake photoshoots under the guise he would help them with their careers, but

instead, it was a ruse to get women alone.

This case is already disturbing, but KR's twisted way of proving his innocence has added another sick layer

to this story. As it has been exposed, he has teamed up with bloggers, who happily give him a platform and an audience to not really defend himself but to attack, gaslight, and post revenge porn against victims/women who question his innocence. Kaalan, who once said during an interview, "I think of suicide once or twice every other day," continues to show he is not mentally stable.

Now, while KR is known more for his acting, he is also very well known in the music industry. There have been suspicions that he was the man behind the sounds of y'all fave rapping/singing niggas, and that he has been in these ghostwriting/ghost-producing rooms that labels, cough, cough "Atlantic," cough, cough set up. So, he is another fine product of the music industry. We know how the industry loves to protect their men until they become too much of a liability. I am sure many of his old associates will be watching, especially those subscribing to the narrative that Black men are being picked on just because they are now being held accountable. Just watch; if KR has one good day in court, Drake will have him playing basketball at his mansion.

Case status: Trial starts January 11, 2022.

Cardi B Court Case Against Tasha K

While Cardi B has the most cases out of the people mentioned, she probably is in the best position out of all of them. First, she has the copyright case, which I don't think is a big deal to the public even if she loses. She also has the case stemming from the attack on former bartenders Baddi Gi and Jade, which I am most interested in; however, I am not sure if anything will happen with that case this year.

So we are left with Cardi Bs lawsuit against Youtuber Tasha K, which definitely provides enough drama to keep fans and the media interested in 2022. As we know, Cardi B sued Tasha K for slander after Tasha

reported the Bronx rapper had herpes. It probably did not help that people started referring to Cardi B as "Herpes B." So, now they are heading for trial, where many believe Cardi B will prevail.

While I have not been glued to this case, now that jury selection is set for this month, I will be watching closely due to the potential domino effect from the verdict. That is what truly makes this lawsuit compelling.

We all know that when it comes to getting news on female rappers, the girls are mostly relegated to these

fake female rap pages/blogs that are really just STAN pages or these blogs that squeeze them in between stories about a murder, a tweet, and a reality TV star. The men at least have pages dedicated to Hip Hop news where fans can keep up with their fave male rapper. So, since the girls are stuck on these pages dedicated to mess, not Hip Hop, they are dragged into the daily chaos for exclusives and tea, putting their brands at a higher risk of being damaged. We all see that you have to protect the brand at all costs nowadays, cause these girls are more than their music.

Suppose Cardi B wins this lawsuit against someone considered the "Queen" on Youtube blogging. In that case, this could open the floodgates of lawsuits from female rappers/singers who are constantly targeted by these amateur reporters who feel they won't be sued because they use "allegedly" over and over or claim to have a source. However, if Tasha K wins, then the messy, sip tea type of blogging may become more reckless than it already is. No matter the outcome of this case, it may have a lasting impact beyond the two people involved.

CASE STATUS: Pretrial Conference set for 1/5/2022 at 01:30 PM. Jury Selection set for 1/6/2022 at 09:30 AM.

Tory Lanez Trial For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion Starts in 2022.

On December 13, 2021, a judge decided that Tory Lanez would have to "Dance, Bitch" in front of a jury of his peers for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. After that ruling, Tory immediately went on offense, started pointing his gun residue fingers at Kelsey, and gave Joe Budden a reason to stop jack'n off his dog.

With that said, you don't need Ms. Cleo to tell you why this case will be the main headliner of 2022. It involves two celebrities, a Kylie Jenner connection, a possible love triangle, and the ever classic he said/she said. This case also embodies some elements from the 3 previous cases mentioned above:

  • A lot of misinformation purposely being spread, just like in the Nicki Minaj case

  • Tory Lanez may be mentally unstable, just like Kaalan Walker

  • The outcome of this case may have a lasting impact beyond Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion, just like in the Cardi B case

Let me expound on my second point about Tory Lanez's mental state. This man constantly reminds people of his creepy obsession with Megan. He risked his freedom when he attempted to bumrush the Rolling Loud stage just for a chance to be near Megan and constantly pokes at her via tweets and IG posts. It's giving schoolboy crush when the only way a boy knows how to show a girl he likes her is by pulling her hair, except that boy is not facing felony charges for shooting that girl.

Isn't it weird that Tory still seems to crave the attention of a woman he claims is framing him? Like with Kaalan, there appears to be a vast disconnect between Tory's claim of innocence and the behavior he displays.

So, with Tory publicly taunting Megan, podcast propaganda, and this developing battle of the sexes, there is no doubt that will be the case to watch in 2022. .

CASE STATUS: Pretrial Hearing on Feb. 23rd. (updated)
