XXL Magazine released Megan Thee Stallion's Freshman Class #Freestyle and she did not disappoint. Megan's ability to kill freestyles is why she was able to garner so much attention so fast. Before Megan, DJ Akademiks was pushing the narrative that freestyles were outdated and for older rappers. It was becoming a concern that with less skilled rappers gaining in popularity that DJ Akademiks may be right and the art of freestyle'n would only be done by vets or not at all.
Enter Megan Thee Stallion. Who knew that a young femcee from Houston, TX would not only become the poster child of freestyle'n but make it mandatory that a new rapper have a FIYAH freestyle in order to be part of the upper echelon (excluding industry plants). This is the positive influence that Megan Thee Stallion is having on the culture. It's this influence that is setting Megan up to be the next rap superstar. All of our Hip Hop legends have in some ways pushed the culture forward. Megan hasn't even put out an official debut album yet and she is already pushing the culture forward. Plus we all know that "Drive Thee Boat" is going down in rap history.
