Megan Thee Stallion's electrifying presence was all it took to steal the spotlight as one of the headliners at Outside Lands Music Festival in the heart of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Surrounded by an exhilarated crowd, Megan delivered a powerhouse performance, commanding the stage with a lineup of her hit songs that included "Don't Stop," "Freak Nasty," "Big Ole Freak," and "NDA."
Amid the cheers and applause, Megan took a moment to express her gratitude to her devoted "Hotties," who have stood by her side throughout all the harassment and lies over the past three years and beyond. But it was her unabashed message to her detractors that truly left a mark. With her middle finger defiantly raised high, Meg, with a clear voice, said, "Fck all my haters. None of that shit you was doing or saying broke me. None of that shit y'all be doing and saying to the Hotties broke them."
Megan's target was unmistakable – a direct strike against those who had turned against her, attempting to suppress her voice and intimidate her into silence after she bravely spoke out about being shot by Tory Lanez. Her words rang loud for those who are tired of female rappers being told to "Shut Up and Rap."
While Meg's message was probably directed at any and everyone who threw dirt on her name, that middle finger, I believe, was aimed squarely at Drake, who last week endorsed Tory Lanez's claims of innocence after he was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
Much like his ongoing feud with Pusha T, it appears that Drake is still salty from Megan Thee Stallion's legendary call-out, labeling him a "Bitch ass nigga" and questioning, "Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot!." This was in response to his casual treatment of the shooting incident on his track 'Circo Loco,' where he rhymed, 'This bitch lie 'bout gettin' shots, but she still a stallion."
This is why Megan stands apart from her peers because she is one of the few artists who refuse to tolerate such audacious disrespect, even when it originates from a heavyweight like Drake. That night, Megan was able to resonated with women, who are a core part of Drake's fanbase.
In a desperate attempt to sweet the incident under the rug, Drake enlisted Lil Yachty, his newfound collaborator, to deflect and downplay the controversy. Yet, the truth remains evident in Drake's own actions, as he was one of the first to like Tory Lanez's delusional post. Drake can't gaslight his way out of this.
While Megan Thee Stallion continues to rise in Hip Hop, emerging as a trailblazer who in her own way is reshaping the landscape for female rap, I pray that Drake will consider a much-needed hiatus from music and channel his energies towards raising his son to be the opposite of what he has become.
Speak, Heart, Share...Thanks!
Drake is a big misogynist. He always shows his hand.
I'm just waiting on Pardi to show his true colors.
