On episode 10 of #QueenRadio , #NickiMinaj expressed disappointment with how the gatekeepers were turning a blind eye to the clown shit going on within the culture.

This got me thinking about who are the gatekeepers🤔? What’s the role of the gatekeepers within Hip Hop 🤔? Why are they allowing Nicki Minaj to be disrespected, and in some cases appear to be encouraging it🤔? So as I was thinking-thinking, I thought that maybe I was overthinking🥴But then I couldn’t stop thinking and wondered if these mofos are trying to stop Nicki from taking her rightful spot as a gatekeeper 🤯

To me a gatekeeper is a person who has influence, power, and advocates for the culture AKA gives a shit. This role is usually reserved for men only. Besides Roxanne Shante, I can’t think of another woman who would be considered a gatekeeper. Lauryn Hill would have been one if she hadn't stepped away from the industry.

The problem is that I don’t think Nicki realizes she is a gatekeeper. She is stuck in her own version of the #Birdbox 🙈She is still looking for the approval of gatekeepers who are allowing the culture to be diluted for cash & clout.

Nicki created the Queen Radio show so that she wouldn’t have to be a slave to the media. This move added to her power & influence. A move that you could tell shook the culture. When she got that #Kehlani interview, people with their own shows were visibly salty. When she got #Taxstone on, men posted snarky comments. When she reached out to stop a beef between rappers #KashDoll & #AsianDoll ; immediately you saw #DJKhaled shuffle his weight watchers ass over to offer Kash Doll an opportunity, that I doubt was there before Nicki showed interest🙄

So, with female rappers being hot right now, these men are all trying to be Biggie. But, it’s hard to play Big Poppa if all these girls want to follow The PinkPrint . So, they need to try to take away Nicki’s influence, that will lead to her having less power, & then all she will be left with is giving a shit. Nicki will essential be me😩

The only advantage to being a woman in hip hip is that unlike her peers, Drake, J Cole, & Kendrick; Nicki doesn’t have to wait for a Jay Z or Nas to go away. Nicki is Jay Z on the female side, but she has to realize this. She has to start using her power & influence in order to keep it. She has got to do for one girl, what Wayne did for her. The point of a gatekeeper is not to keep everyone out. It is to make sure trash doesn’t get in. Nicki appearing so closed off, drives these girls to the men. If Nicki lets one girl through her gates, the others will jump on her side cause there is now hope that maybe they will be next. Also, with Nicki, they don’t have to put out to get put on. So in conclusion; Nicki Minaj is a gatekeeper but the bitch don't know it.
