ABC News has confirmed that the suspect who killed Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, in a hit-n-run incident last Friday has been arrested. Charles Povich, 70 years-old, faces charges of leaving the scene of an incident and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Robert Maraj's death.
Povich is currently out on bail. His driver's license has been suspended and his passport confiscated.
Nassau County's Detective Lt. Fitzpatrick said, "He got out of the car and he looked at the deceased, got into his car, and made the conscious decision to leave instead of dialing 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man,”
Povich also made an attempt to hide his car in his garage, however, he surrendered on Wednesday after police were able to track the car from pieces of surveillance video.
Nicki Minaj's mother, Carol Maraj, has spoken to the press and told Newsday, "I’m very, very, very happy about the arrest.”
Let's keep the Maraj family in our prayers and hopefully, justice will be served.
