Well, it seems more and more like Megan Thee Stallion is indeed free at last, free at last...thank Gawwd ole mighty free at last from Carl Crawford's 1501 Entertainment. However, if we are to believe Hits Daily Double's insider news, Megan is most likely to sign with Atlantic Records.
No, it's not raining. Those are just my tears falling from the sky.
Yep, Megan may sign to the label with the WORST reputation when it comes to dirty tricks and how they treat their artists, and to add another red flag, it's home to Cardi B. I have already spoken to y'all about the problems that could arise with Cardi B and Megan being on the same label. Jealousy could spark if Cardi B feels that Megan is getting more support than her. I have already heard complaints about how Atlantic supports Lizzo more than they do Cardi B.
We have already seen people close to Cardi B blame Black women and specifically Megan, for Cardi's features failing. BG attacks Megan all the time. So, this scenario of them being labelmates puts Megan at a disadvantage if she ever feels the need to clapback.
Also, there is the possibility of Atlantic signing Megan, only to ensure she isn't competing with Cardi B. As long as Cardi is willing to throw a shoe at Nicki Minaj, she stays valuable to them.
At worst, I would want Megan Thee Stallion to get her own label imprint and then just have Atlantic for distribution if she must do business with them.
This is when I hope Megan remembers that Roc Nation works for her, not the other way around. I assume Jay-Z allows Desiree Perez to do her job without micro-managing, so Jay-Z's close relationship with Atlantic's Co-President of Black Music, Mike Kyser, should not play a role in where Megan ends up. Kyser was part of Jay-Z's most successful projects; they have been friends for years.
I do not want that relationship to make it easier for Atlantic to slip in when maybe another label would be a better fit for Megan. Kyser calls Cardi B his "little nugget." We do not need Megan to be his "big nugget."
Thoughts?
Speak, Heart, Share...Thanks!
Chile. I smell a beef coming if she does sign with them. I pray she doesn't. Are there no other people looking at her? Columbia interscope etc.
She should stay where she’s at. How much negotiation room does she really have? I’m no A& R but it’s not difficult to understand what labels look at and I feel like her album/mixtape sales are a set back. I am/was hoping Traumazaine would do at least 80k. 100k would’ve been perfect because that’s the standard for “new” artists.

Megan need to drop a banger project and then shop around. Until then I don’t see her signing a lucrative deal. Now NBA youngboy? Yes.
I’ll believe it when I see it in writing.
