Shazam has launched 18 new global genre charts. The only one I will be watching is Hip Hop and R&B. It seems to be a new trend to do these "global" charts. As we all know, Billboard, who has so many issues with their Hot 100 chart recently started doing global charts.
Reportedly the charts will be updated daily and will based on data from the last seven days.

I am a fan of different platforms creating their own music charts because it gives artists and fans options. We know that many of these artist base deals off their ranking on the Hot 100. The smart artist will start looking at other charts that have way less accusations of payola and shady business practices.
