YAYA DACOSTA LEAVES CHICAGO MED FOR OAK BLUFFS
Deadline reported that Yaya DaCosta, ya'll remember the one who should have won America's Next Top Model, is leaving the hit TV show "Chicago Med" after 6 seasons. Even though Yaya will no longer be playing nurse April Sexton, fans can still watch her on TV.
Yaya has accepted the lead role in Lee Daniels' new Fox series called "Our Kind of People." The show,
which is inspired by the book "Our Kind of People: Inside America's Black Upper Class, " which will take place in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard, a longtime summer haven for the African-American elite.
Yaya will play Angela Vaughn, who is described as a "fashion-forward “boho” woman, an up-and-coming hair products entrepreneur." After her mother dies, she inherits property in the elite community of Oak Bluffs, where she moves with her daughter Nikki. Angela plans to open up a shop and push her brand but will be blocked by HBIC Leah Franklin Dupont.
I love Yaya, but I could never get into Chicago Med. I will definitely check this show out, despite the Daniels connection. I have never heard of Oak Bluffs, so I am already learning something new from reporting on this news.
