Kanye West or Ye has been on a long journey to destroy his legacy either due to mental illness or personal choice, but it's been sad to watch as a longtime Kanye fan and excuse maker. Well, I can no longer be empathetic to whatever is going on in his head after his latest stunt during Paris Fashion Week. During a surprise fashion show, Ye showcased a "white lives matter" t-shirt worn by model and daughter of Lauryn Hill, Selah Marley.
While Kanye received a ton of backlash for the t-shirt and for attacking fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson who critiqued his choice in fashion, fans also had some questions for Selah Marley. Like how did she go from dodging rubber bullets and choking on tear gas to wearing a "white lives matter" shirt?
Selah responded to the backlash with, "Witnessing someone break free from "the agenda" sends you all into such a panic that you will do whatever it takes to force them back into a box...."
But, it seems like her mama or someone got to her because her tone changed in the DMs to Kanye, where it appeared she wanted help explaining why they wore those dumbass shirts. She wrote Ye, "I love taking risks and embracing freedom, but in this case, I think we can continue to discuss the depth behind our decisions to show the purity of our intentions and provide healing to our community."
She actually thinks she and Ye are a team on this. That he is going to help her with the backlash when that is what he wants is the backlash. Girl, go call your mama.
