WHAT FLIPPED THE SWITCH FOR FEMALE RAP?

Writer: Fck YayaFck Yaya

In the middle of a pandemic, female rap is thriving. We have independent to mainstream to legends getting shine. People always talk about the "golden" era of female rap where there where more than one woman poppin, I would say we are in the middle of another era like that. Only time will tell if the girls can keep it going collectively or will the genre rest on the backs of only one or two of them.

Y'all are always reading my thoughts. I want to read y'all original opinions on this topic. Tell me what you think has brought us to this time where the women are not fighting over one crown? Where do you see it going? What women will do you see becoming superstars? How do you think it compares to other eras?

FYI - I know there are some bad apples but that is with all professions. In general, the girls are minding their business and focused on their own sh*t.

I think Megan is talented and is starting to get the support some ppl failed to give her at first. I definitely think her and Doja are superstars. I think because most of the girls mind their business, are in different lanes, and want to prove the nay sayers wrong is the reason why it’s keeping some momentum. I also think some of the girls not wanting to be called out for not pushing their pen, JD talking about females only rap about 🐱, Ole girls questionable and short rap career success, and seeing Nicki’s longevity has reignited all the girls to come out.

Does Doja Cat has the it factor? Which female rapper deserves a push?

@Etta no rapper makes it without getting a ”push”. Megan is getting the push because she is has that ”it” factor, fan support, and got with a good team. No different than Nicki, Lauryn, Kim, Foxy, etc.

There is a different than getting pushed and being an industry plant.

Is Magan the best new female rapper or is she getting the biggest push? I'm not a fan of industry push. We saw it with ole girl. Let the competition be equal and fair.
