WILL TOOSIE SLIDE BE THE NEW HOTLINE BLING?

DANCE LIKE MICHAEL JACK-SON

Tonight, Drake is dropping his new TikTok song titled, #ToosieSlide. The song is produced by OZ, who worked on Sicko Mode and Life Is Good. Yep! Kanye is making Gospel music, and Drake is spending his legacy years trying to go viral on TikTok.

On Monday, ATL dancer Toosie had blogs buzzing after he posted a clip of him and some friends dancing to a snippet of the unreleased track on TikTok. In the video, you can hear Drake instructing listeners,

"Gotta dance but it's really on some street sh*t

Imma show you how to get it

It go, Right foot up, left foot slide

Left foot up, right foot slide

basically, I'm saying, either way, we bout' to slide (hey)

can't let this one slide"

On Tuesday, Drake confirmed that "Toosie Slide" or as Akademiks mistakenly called it, "Tootsie Roll," will officially release this Thursday.

PANDERING DRIZZY

This is pandering at its finest by the so-called #1 artists in the world. Let me make it clear that I am not

against rappers or R&B artists being popular on TikTok. I personally enjoy TikTok. However, there is a difference between artists creating a great song that happens to go viral on TikTok organically vs. an artist creating a song pandering to an app. If Drake is doing this, then I don't want to hear sh*t when other artists do the same.

New Hotline Bling?

Pandering aside, let's talk about the song. I feel like Drake is trying to replicate his Hotline Bling era with

this song. Toosie Slide reminds me of a cross between Hotline Bling and the Cha-Cha Slide. Now, I don't know if this song will be as big as Hotline Bling, but Drake is making sure Toosie Slide has all the elements that made Hotline Bling/Cha-Cha Slide fan favorites.

  • Not lyrically

  • An easy dance that everyone can do

Hotline Bling reached #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 and is certified 8 x platinum.

Do you think Toosie Slide has the potential to be as popular?

Are y'all going to be "Toosie Sliding" all through the 2020 quarantine?

P.S. What is up with the single cover? It does not fit the vibe of the song at all. It looks like it's from his "War" song.
