DRAKE ANNOUNCES CERTIFIED LOVER BOY IS DONE
It looks like Certified Stall Boy is ready to drop his album. Drake was on Sound 42 when he revealed:
"Albums cooked. Looking forward to delivering it to you. I hope everybody in the world is blessed. I hope everybody has their drinks. Everyone's locked in. Good vibes and good energy for this weekend. And for the rest of you heathens, I want to tell you cause I know you're listening cause you're always pre. Don't trouble people's kids. Don't bother people's souls. OVO, we aim for the head; we don't aim to please. Certified Lover Boy on the way...and that's for anyone in the way."
Drake, of course, was speaking in one of his many accents when he made the announcement. We know that Kanye is scheduled to drop Donda on Aug. 5th, so I wonder if this pressured Drake to finally stop stalling???
I believe Certified Lover Boy has been done, but since Drake really had no song sticking to the top of the charts, he started feeling unsure about his material. It doesn't help that people were clown'n the album's title. I also believe that is part of the reason behind his reconciliation with Nicki Minaj after spending the past two years shading the fck out of her, accusing her of pillow talking with Meek, and revealing things between him and Nicki have changed forever. He is tapping into the nostalgia effect with the whole Young Money shit.
It will be interesting to see how people listen to Drake's album. When fans believe an artist has pushed backed/delayed an album to make it "perfect," then the expectations grow. However, Drake and always gotten a sympathetic ear when it comes to Hip Hop media and fans.
