Reports are saying that 22-year old Timothy Leeks was charged with the fatal shooting of Chicago rapper King Von. Leeks, who is from Savannah, GA, got into an altercation with King Von, which escalated into gunfire outside of a downtown Atlanta Hookah Lounge.
King Von was shot and pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
On Friday, Nov. 5th, in downtown Atlanta, rising Chicago rapper King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Daquan Bennett, was killed during a shootout at the Monaco Hookah Lounge.
According to reports, an altercation occurred outside the hookah lounge between King Von's crew and another group. During the fight, an unidentified shooter started firing. Two off-duty uniform Atlanta police officers who were working as security that night attempted to intervene, along with a third police officer, working in the area.
Deputy Chief Timothy Peek told the media, "That physical altercation escalated to an exchange of gunfire with those groups. Two police officers who were working at the club or lounge noticed the gunfire, noticed the altercation, and engaged some of the people involved. There was an exchange of gunfire with police as well. At this particular time, we have 5 individuals who have been shot; 2 are deceased, 1 is in critical condition, and 2 are stable."
DJ Akademiks posted that King Von was not killed by police, per Von's manager.
This is another unnecessary tragedy in Hip Hop. King Von was just getting a lot of recognition for his storytelling ability. Some even called him the best storyteller in rap. King Von was signed to fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk, label.
Asian Doll, King Von's on and off girlfriend, posted to Twitter, "I wanna die 2. Shid it feel like I'm dead already." Let's keep Asian Doll in our prayers. We know she loved this man.
