Media Personality, Naji Chill, tweeted in support of 360 deals. His reasoning was that "As the business of music shifts, so will the business relationship. A label doesn't just sell records, they help build a brand. A percentage of brand equity is only fair when bearing all the financial risk."
My pushback to that thinking is that part of the "shifting" in music is there is no longer artist development, and A&Ring is now people checking how many followers an artist has on Instagram. The labels are only latching on to people who have already created a hot brand. These artists just need help getting their music on different DSPs and radio. I know some labels do more than others, but I think a 360 deal needs to be justified, not automatic.

Yes, I feel like artists today have been given so many warnings about 360’s. Honestly, I didn’t know too much about them until they clowned Cardi for signing one. Lol I learned a lot during the “hate train” era. Whew 😅
